Oakland City Hall
Oakland, California
|

Oakland City Hall was designed by Palmer & Hornbostel and built in 1911. The eighteen story structure is terra cotta, granite, marble and bronze with ornate plaster interiors. The structure was severely damaged in the 1989 Loma Prieta Earthquake and required repairs and rehabilitation. Working with two architects unfamiliar with sound preservation practice, Carey & Co. served as the preservation architect for Oakland City Hall. This building underwent a complete restoration, rehabilitation, and seismic upgrade.
